Film and Design Workshop (click to view videos!)
I learnt to use a camera today more professionally and technical terms such as tilt and pan. It is useful because I haven't really scrutinised the functions/ details of the camera.
learning to set up the camera on a tripod.
I also learnt to use Premier Pro, something which I had but never really used. It is convenient to use after I got used to it. However I just haven't been able to process After Effects as easily. I'll definitely need to experiment and learn After Effects more haha!
I wanted to capture interesting moments I could find in the library and capture its atmosphere, so I took mostly still shots of students and edited my shots into a short video. I think it doesn't need music as it procures a calming, natural effect by itself.
The haiku that corresponds is:
Secrets seep inside
The silence of syllables
Lost in the Library
During lunch time I thought it would be interesting to take some videos of our dorm's messy kitchen. The results turned out to be pretty neat because there was good lighting/ sunshine that day. I'm really glad I did these random shots of the kitchen because I have managed to make this disgusting kitchen look tolerable and even slightly bohemian. I decided to trim the video based on a song I recently found and thought would match the mood of our kitchen.
I could improve by making tighter trims (if I had more footage of the kitchen/ a story to tell...!)
I realized videos are most capable at capturing a mood or atmosphere of the environment, and forming narratives, which would be something to explore more of in the future.
