Person primer and narratives review
My person primer
According to other people, my drawings are quite easy to differentiate, especially the one of enlarged scale drawn on a piece of A1 paper. I think it does show the exaggerated scale effectively as the size is dominating amongst other works.
I drew AJ using mainly pencils and oil pastels.
This side view of AJ is the one I like the most, because I feel like I have captured her "essence" or aura best in this one. My lines are also quite succinct, but also enough to show her character.
AJ in "true scale" and part of AJ. For some reason I just find the shape of her nostril really beautiful. This is random but anyway, nostrils are underappreciated. Something we learn after drawing others from life.
I drew AJ in the way I want by drawing her on a large envelope, which avoids the empty white space of a white A4 paper.
Other people's work
Left: This is my favourite portrait out of everyone's (maybe including mine!, because Ruta twisted the proportion of the girl into almost resembling a wisp of smoke, or a squashed piece of tissue paper. It reminds me that portraits are not necessarily aimed to be objective and can be playful.
Right: Grace's portrait of Luke. I like the simplicity of ignoring the eyes and painting his clothes with black and adding white lines to them.
I like the creativity of Lena's narrative, separating the sequence by circles which resemble the view from the inside of a cup.
Guy's narratives an interesting story about little men making breakfast for him, and his refined style shows little elaborate scenes. However some also suggested him to try showing his scenes in different perspectives and angles. I'll also aim to have less repetition of the same contents, but instead to show the same setting in different points of view.
