Peckham Theatre showcase and crit (part 2) (with video)
Here are some of my favourite scenes.
Under the bridge: Ali Green Grocer
The Kilm Rooms
Sunday service @ Christ's Gospel
The backdrop of forgotten ruins
Argos VS Kahn's Bargain
Most of my scenes show a certain extent of juxtaposition, e.g. the old and the new, the artsy and the chaotic, and the local business and the big chain stores.
Showcase
My set up with Peckham's Soul Food on the side, the small concertina, and two A4 collages on the wall.
They work well as a diverse crowd. Even though Faye says I could use more gangsters.
Grace and Luke playing the theatre. Unfortunately I didn't get a footage of them doing so!
But here's a video I edited which shows a nice interaction:
The overall comments are overwhelmingly positive. Most people liked that it is made of palimpsests and has layers of meaning even if I did not explain it in detail. This perhaps shows that the theatre was able to deliver its message. Most people also liked how it is interactive and available to be played with. At first no one dared to touch it!
Some improvements might be the unfortunate low-ceiling frame in the front, which blocks out part of the imagery. However, it also somehow forces the audience to look from a lower angle as well.
