Copeland Gallery Open House- Embroidery workshop
It is London Craft Week and Copeland Gallery in Peckham has organized a semi workshop-market at the venue, where works of local artists are displayed.
One of the outcomes of collaborative weaving workshops!
A wealth of colourful yarns and string.
This ultimate onesy caught my eye and I wonder if it is the work or the work clothes of an artist.
Olivia and I joined the embroidery workshop after some waiting and it turned out to be really fun! Engaging in the craft was almost a meditative process and there was no pressure for making a perfect outcome. Even if my first-time embroidery is wriggly, I still find it satisfying to play with.
I also like the concept of embroidering on the same communal banner, uniting both physically and metaphorically the community through this creative workshop. Children are introduced to this craft beside older participants and strangers share their techniques and stories around the tapestry.
My first attempt effort of the cross stitch (The purple and yellow not so organized one!)
