Selling my zines at South London Gallery Chilren's Book Fair, Nov 18

The evolution of my zine, winter rhymes

I wanted to make a wreath in the beginning, but then I am not confident about it becoming a tabletop decor.

I then morphed the concept into a circle shaped zine.

Printed it out with Doxzoo, an external publisher.

Then I laser-cutted the circular shape of the zine in Maker's space. I had to laser-cut page by page to prevent the sides from browning!

Fast forward to when we are setting up the stall. I am also selling the grandma zine from Competition Time, and the "I want to be a sausage" zine I made back in foundation.

Had a brief look around South London Gallery. The displays are humorous and provocative.

Someone is hiding behind the man...

The experience of sitting in a stall is very refreshing and new to me. Even though we didn't manage to sell much in the end, many people showed interest in our works for being creative and out of the blue. Next time if I were to sell something, I would put more consideration into who I'm selling it to (my target audience), what would be its main purpose/ goal, what voice/ story/ informative quality does it have, and most importantly what makes it worth buying.

It is also important to consider the price, packaging, presentation etc., which is something I often overlook after spending effort perfecting the product itself.
