QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ALL BE THINKING THROUGH WHEN DEVELOPING YOUR EVENTS:
  1. Who is the lead contact for the event and how do we make sure they have all the information necessary to liaise with the South London Gallery?
me

  1. Is the event suitable for a drop-in public event? Can what you are doing be explained in one line? Can people start working / join at any point in the event, and work to their own pace and ability?
  2. Is the setup and packdown time realistic? Does your setup impact on anything else in the space?
  3. Is the programme copy audience focused? Think about who you want at the event, is it legible to them? What are the main points you want to communicate? Look at other event copy on the SLG website for guidance on tone and length.
  4. Do all components of the event directly address the brief of South London Story Lab? Does your proposal connect to what the other people in your timeslot are doing?
  5. Has everybody submitted their bios? It would be a shame if these were to not be included.
  6. How will you ‘be’ in the event? Hands on? Supporting people through activities? Not present? Awkwardly sat at the side of the room overheard telling your friends about how much you don’t like working with children? - this isn’t something you need to write down anywhere or tell us - we just want you to factor it into your planning.
  7. If you can't be present for the event, how can you reconcile this so it is still meaningful for you, your practice, and visitors?
  8. What materials / equipment might you need from the South London Gallery? Please clearly indicate what you would like to ask us to provide for you so we can tell you if this is possible.
  9. IMPORTANT: When naming your event, please keep it simple at catchy - no more that 3-4 words as it will always be prefaced with South London Story Lab. Please put forward a few suggestions for event titles to give the SLG the opportunity to choose the most appropriate.
E.g.: South London Story Lab: Open Broadcast
E.g.: South London Story Lab: Writing our stories
E.g.: South London Story Lab: Live Lab
